Greetings fellow District 6580 Rotarians!
April illuminated District 6580 with the GLOW of Rotary. Our District Conference truly shone brightly!
Heartfelt gratitude to those who joined us at the "Inspiration in Evansville" District Conference and Youth Summit. Together, we celebrated Rotary, found inspiration, forged bonds of fellowship, ignited hope within our communities, and focused on the vital topic of mental health.
Kicking off the morning with Parri Black, CEO of Youth First and a dedicated Rotarian, set a powerful tone. Her insights illuminated the importance of our collective focus on mental health. Our service project for Youth First was a testament to our commitment, as we assembled 125 totes for Mental Health Counselors in southern Indiana schools (a heartfelt thank you to all who contributed).
Sidney Kahre, our District Speech contest winner, eloquently wove the principles of our 4-way test into a moving speech on creating hope and self-belief. Not a dry eye was left in the audience. Author and Speaker, Matt Hay, shared his inspiring journey of overcoming challenges and advocating for change, his book "Soundtrack & Silence" serving as a beacon of hope.
John Blount's stirring words reminded us of the profound impact of Rotary. His message filled me with pride in our Rotarian community.
Our 16 breakout sessions spanned a spectrum of topics, from celebrating exceptional clubs to addressing crucial issues like suicide prevention, DEI, Global Grants, and public image.
Kudos to Sharon Oliva and the Evansville @ Night Rotary Club for infusing the event with joy and camaraderie! The House of Friendship was a highlight, raising over $7500 with 32 baskets—an immense thank you to all who contributed, purchased, and volunteered.
From the fantastic venue to the delicious food and, most importantly, the exceptional individuals in attendance, our experience was extraordinary.
To the District Conference planning team: your efforts were stellar, and we delivered the event I had imagined and promised all year. Thank you to each and every one of you for your dedication and hard work.
